How does high density living affect third sector organisations? An exploration of financial and voluntary work force implications for non-profit organisations.

The increasing number of apartment complexes and master planned estates has resulted in the establishment of mandatory, volunteer run associations to manage these. Traditionally placed within the field of housing studies, it can be argued that these owner corporations are non-profit, third sector organisations. Owner corporation are non- profit property based organisations, that are reliant on volunteer labour and that have the ability to successfully compete with third sector organisations for funding grants and voluntary work forces. Using qualitative data, this research highlights policy and financial implications for traditional third sector organisations
