New therapeutic approaches in autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease

Trabalho Final do Curso de Mestrado Integrado em Medicina, Faculdade de Medicina, Universidade de Lisboa, 2015Os mecanismos genéticos e moleculares envolvidos na fisiopatologia da Doença Poliquística Renal Autossómica Dominante (DPRAD) têm sido alvo de investigação recente conduzindo ao desenvolvimento de novos fármacos que visam alterar a história natural da doença. Neste trabalho serão revistos os resultados dos ensaios clínicos que envolvem as novas propostas terapêuticas para a DPRAD e serão discutidas as principais medidas terapêuticas atualmente utilizadas para o controlo da progressão da doença.Genetic and molecular mechanisms involved in the pathophysiology of Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD) have been recent research targets leading to the development of new drugs aimed at changing the natural history of the disease. This study will review the results of the clinical trials involving new therapeutic approaches for ADPKD, as well as discuss major therapeutic measures currently used to slow the progression of the disease
