The activation of Notch1 receptor triggers differential outcomes depending on the upstream activating ligand. This way, Jag1-Notch1 activation promotes endothelial to hematopoietic transition process for the generation of hematopoietic stem cells, whereas Dll4-Notch1 activation promotes vasculo-arterial specification.
