Benthic diatom inhabiting the tropical intertidal mudflats plays an important role in adding to the total marine primary production as their biomass often exceeds that of the phytoplankton in the overlying waters. This study focused mainly on benthic diatom communities as they have been found to respond to changes in environmental variables. In-situ parameters such as dissolved oxygen, pH, temperature, and salinity were recorded. Pore-water samples were also collected for nutrients analysis
