Dendrobium crumenatum adalah salah satu keluarga Orchidaceae, menghasilkan bunga putih, wangi dengan warna kekuningan di bahagian tengah yang kebiasaannya dipanggil sebagai orkid merpati. Orkid ini biasanya dijumpai di Malaysia hidup secara semula jadi di atas pokok di hutan tropika. Kebanyakan orkid bergantung kepada kulat mikoriza untuk tumbuh dan terus hidup. Oleh itu, objektif utama kajian ini adalah untuk mengkaji hubungan kulat mikoriza pada akar orkid epifit (Dendrobium crumenatum) dan kulit kayu pokok Pukul Lima (Samanea saman).
