Large-Eddy Simulation (LES) becomes a more and more demanded tool to improve the design of aero-engines. The main reason for this request stems from the constraints imposed on the next generation low-emission engines at the industrial development level and the ability for LES to provide information on the instantaneous turbulent flow field which greatly contributes to improving the prediction of mixing and combustion thereby offering an improved prediction of the exhaust emission. The work presented in this thesis discusses two recurring issues of LES.
