This chapter is a critical reflection on my approach to teaching within a tertiary dance training environment. It introduces some of the concepts that inform my approach, drawing from previous philosophical explorations of the contemporary dancer's 'moving identity'. Thus, the chapter outlines the philosophical underpinnings of my teaching ethos and points to how these manifest in practice. The book is the result of the research project undertaken by Jenny Coogan at the Palucca University of Dance Dresden, InnoLernenTanz, which was funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in Germany under the auspices of the Quality Pact for Teaching (Qualitätspakt Lehre)
