Peer economy firms employ autonomous machines to make decisions in decentralised systems to regulate behaviour at a distance. We argue that existing legal frameworks are often inadequate in this environment. Many laws are structured around modern and post-industrial relationships. Constitutional rights (principles of good governance) predominantly apply against state actors, and private rights are predominantly enforceable against autonomous wrongdoers. There are therefore no easy ways to account for public rights or private wrongs. We set out a research agenda for future work that examines the role of regulation in a distributed system
