First, germ cells undergo transit-amplifying mitotic divisions, which enable prodigious output of mature spermatozoa. Second, they undergo reductive meiotic divisions to produce haploid gametes. In this thesis, I examine gene expression and regulation during the mitotic and meiotic phases of spermatogenesis.
