Memoirs by Leopold Hessing about the years 1938-1945 include a descriptions of Jewish life in Czernowitz (Romania) under the pre-war anti-Semitic regime; of the establishment of a ghetto under the German occupation; of his deportation to the concentration camp Moghilov-Podolski (today Ukraine); of his experiences in the ghetto; of the liberation by the Red Army; and of his emigration to Poland.The original, handwritten manuscript in German is accompanied by a typed English language translation by Shlomo and Laurel Hessing.Included is a title page of unknown provenance: "For my memory, in the concentration camp Theresienstadt, from July 29, 1942 to July 5, 1945, Levniovskj Chaim."Synopsis in fileBukowin
