The collection comprises several versions of Dr. Jenny Barth Bornstein’s memoirs, transcribed and translated by her great-granddaughter Olga Bornstein Wise and her husband, David Wise (ME 1600a and ME 1600b); a family tree, 1824-1960: ‘Stammbaum meines Vaters’ by Paula Fraenkel, née Barthand of Jenny’s son, Arthur Bornstein (ME 1602).Jenny Barth Bornstein (1859-1951) was born, raised and schooled in Berlin; she married in 1880 and was widowed in 1891; she raised three children, studied medicine in Switzerland at a time when German universities were closed to women, and was licensed as one of the first dozen female physicians in Germany in 1902.
