Ruth Warschawzik Collection 1910-1971

The collection contains documentation of Ruth DeJay née Warschawzik and Otto DeJay, formerly Otto Dietsche, including vital records, passports and identity cards, school certificates, military service records, correspondence, biographical notes, and family trees.Ruth Warschawzik was born on April 26, 1911, in Königsberg to Owsei Warschawzik and Rose née Schapira. Ruth was educated in Copenhagen, Denmark, Danzig, and Berlin. After spending a year in Paris, she immigrated to the United States in January 1938. In May 1938, Ruth Warschawzik married Otto Dietsche. The couple later changed their last name to DeJay. Otto was born on July 26, 1910, in Offenbach am Main and died on February 19, 1971, in New York.
