Editing Textual and Extra-Textual Materials in Charles Darwin\u27s Correspondence

The Darwin Correspondence Project was founded in 1974 by Professor Frederick Burkhardt, President Emeritus of the American Council of Learned Societies, with the collaboration of Dr. Sydney Smith, Reader in Zoology in the University of Cambridge and Fellow of St. Catharine\u27s College. The project\u27s editors are producing the first definitive edition of the letters to and from Charles Darwin, arguably the most important scientist of the nineteenth century.
