Whilst Western notions often consider entrepreneurship to be driven by a strong profit motive, there is some evidence suggesting that this is not necessarily the case especially amongst Indigenous communities. Instead, the intent is to preserve, rebuild and maintain integrity of their cultural heritage. This research supports the above idea by reviewing associated literature underpinned by misguided but well-intentioned interventions by the Australian government. It also identifies the key differences between Western and Indigenous models of motivation through the lens of Hofstede's cultural dimensions.
