Event culture: for the implementation of programs and initiatives which engender community engagement and industry relevant assessment outcomes and learning experiences for New Media Arts students

All the disciplines within the School of Creative Arts in one way or another have convergent outcomes which can be facilitated in the execution of collaborative endeavours. The contemporary industry experience of these encounters more often than not, accompanies some form of public and/or commercial interface. However, in most instances, instilling within students the value of this added layer of engagement is not always embedded within the curricula. And more over, this is not always obvious to a student at the commencement of their studies.\ud \ud The aim of this citation is to show that by producing a vibrant and visible cultural environment on campus and by so doing engaging directly with the local arts community provides the student body with a relevant and rewarding learning experience. And thus demonstrating the potential of community and industry engagement by embedding opportunities within the structure of production based assessment items, which place students at the coalface of potential professional industry engagements
