This reasearch aims to describe how the existence and cultural shift on ohaka mairi (grave visiting) in Japanese society today. Ohaka mairi which is one of the traditional culture that is still preserved in Japan until today, rooted in Buddhism that entered Japan around the 6th century. Obon holiday and higan usually be the moment for Japanese people to gather and visit the family cemetery, clean it and pray there. A survey of 500 respondents (250 men 250 women, aged 40-69 years) published in the Asahi Shimbun newspaper August 15th 2014 resulted that 132 respondents (26.4%) make a grave visiting at least once a year and 119 people (23.8%) at least 2 times a year.
