The thermodynamic prerequisites for the emergence of spatio-temporal patterns of organization in nonlinear chemical systems are reviewed. Analytic expressions for steady-state, time-periodic and travelling wave like solution of reaction-diffusion equations are reported. A comparison with the results based on computer simulations is outlined.SCOPUS: cp.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe
