In the context of the triumphant Fordist stage of the capitalist mode of production and of a massive input of transnational capital, Belgium's manufacturing pattern was deeply modified between 1958 and 1974: big attraction towards non-metropolitan manpower basins and growth of harbour manufacturing, stabilization of manufacturing employment in metropolitan areas, important decreases in the Walloon old industrial areas. After 1974, in the context of high unemployment and of growing flexibility, manufacturing employment decreases everywhere, but at rates regionally and sectorially differenciated, generally correlated with the before 1974 levels of performance. -English summarySCOPUS: NotDefined.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe
