A review of Roman citizens' names consisting of two or more gentilicia, including Aurelius, during the reign of Emperor Caracalla. The reasons for which people considered it useful to add the imperial name to theirs are many: out of respect for their mother's name or after naturalisation under an Antonine or a Caracalla. However, in some cases (especially in the Eastern provinces), the presence of Aurelius in a name including several gentilicia seems to testify to a particular respect towards Emperor Caracalla himself.SCOPUS: re.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe
