Identifying the motivating factors for recruitment and retention of volunteers who are currently enrolled in Utah 4-H is essential to the maintenance of a successful program. This study aimed to determine if there were any specific volunteer motivators related to retention and recruitment and how those motivators related to the cultural demographics of Utah volunteers. Data were collected from 4-H volunteers across the state of Utah to gather baseline information about demographics and motivations. Results indicated that religious affiliation was not a strong indicator of volunteer recruitment but served as a strong motivator toward volunteer retention.
