Diese empirische Fallstudie widmet sich der Erforschung der Relevanz von öffentlicher Sekundarbeschulung in Singida, Tansania. Als konzeptuelle Grundlage dient hierfür der Capability Ansatz nach Sen. Dieser liefert den Rahmen um schulisch induzierte Formen des Seins und des Tuns in Hinblick auf deren etwaigen Verwendungszusammenhänge zu untersuchen. Für diese Studie wurde angenommen, dass sich Schule diesbezüglich intrinsisch, funktionell oder sozial für das sich entwickelnde schulische oder lebensweltliche Engagement der Schüler als wertvoll erweisen kann.
