Analysis of demographic and economic factors influencing life satisfaction of Polish people

Die Arbeit behandelt das Thema der Lebenszufriedenheit von Polen. An der Grundlage der Daten der Gesellschaftdiagnose für das Jahr 2011 wurde ein ökonometrisches Modell, das die Richtung und die Größe des Einflusses der einzelnen Faktoren für das Glücksein darstellt, eingeschätzt. Die Ordered Logit Methode wurde für das Auswerten benutzt. Die Ergebnisse der Einschätzung haben den positiven Einfluss der Heirat, der Teilnahme in Gottesdienste und des Einkommens gezeigt. Dagegen eine Behinderung, eine schwere Krankheit und Arbeitslosigkeit verringern die Wahrscheinlichkeit, sich glücklich zu fühlen. Die Forschung hat auch die U-förmige Beziehung zwischen Alter und Lebenszufriedenheit bewiesen. Weiterhin wurde eine differenzierte Analyse für Männer und Frauen durchgeführt.The thesis discusses the issue of life satisfaction of Polish people. Using data from the Social Diagnosis for the year 2011 an econometric model depicting the direction and the size of influence of particular factors on happiness is estimated. To do this the thesis makes use of the ordered logistic method. The estimation results show a positive impact of being married, frequent church attendance and income on the probability of feeling happy. On the other hand, disability, falling seriously ill and being unemployed significantly lower the likelihood of being happy. The study also confirms a U-shaped relationship between age and happiness. The thesis further conducts separate analyses in groups distinguished by gender
