Medical tourism quality for sustainability a case study of India /

The aim of this study is to explore what determines the sustainable development and growth of medical tourism in India. In-depth interview qualitative research method was adopted to collect the data from private corporate hospital representatives engaged in the global business of medical tourism. The findings from this study show that healthcare quality, surgical costs, waiting time for surgery, state-of-the-art medical equipment and technology, medical staff, accreditation, regulation, and government policies and support for maintaining and improving quality of medical tourism are important issues for development and growth of medical tourism in India. The implications suggest that to be competitive in the global medical tourism industry, both the hospitals and the government need to work together to provide ways for improving quality for sustainable growth and development of medical tourism
