The talk presents the development of integrated interaction strategies on the basis of ambient light for assisted and automated vehicles. The ambient light consists of a 360° LED stripe installed around the driver using his peripheral visual perception to support the driver in different levels of automation by a consistent color-coded interaction design. The results of a simulator study testing two different design approaches to bring the driver back into the monitoring loop are presented.
