In traditional biomedical diagnostics blood samples have predominantly been used as the test specimen for detection of various conditions. Recent advances in sensor technology, combined with the need for non-invasive diagnostics, has led to the development of methods and devices which target more easily accessible biological specimens such as sweat, saliva and breath [1]. These advances and the success of wearable devices monitoring physiological and environmental parameters have led to interest from large companies such as Google and Apple in the production of wearable biochemical sensors.
