This thesis was completed at the Washington State University Honors College. It received a ranking of "passed with distinction."The objective of this study was to research specific injuries caused by the playing of brass musical instruments as well as the preventions and treatments of these disorders. The combination of interest in music and dentistry is the motive for this project. The hope is that musicians and healthcare professionals will become more informed of the playing-related problems since they are often overlooked. The Brass Instrumentalist/Musician Survey that was sent out received 70 responses; all of them played the trumpet, trombone, horn, euphonium or tuba.
