This paper demonstrates how new exploratory technologies are currently being used in adult education and training to support discovery learning and the development of higher-order cognitive skills. In particular the use of interactive simulations and educational computer games are being used in a range of different learning contexts to support accelerated learning [shorter learning times], to engage new groups of learners [with low skills levels], to support learning construction and to aid in the development of skills-based learning.
