Interview with Dr William Miall, conducted by Dr Andy Ness, for the History of Twentieth Century Medicine Research Group, UCL, 13 August 2001. Dr William Miall (1917-2004) was a member of the scientific staff of the MRC’s Pneumoconiosis Research Unit from 1951 to 1961, when he joined the MRC’s Epidemiological Research Unit until appointed Director of the MRC Epidemiology Unit in Jamaica from 1962 to 1970. He was a consultant in epidemiology and member of the scientific staff in the Epidemiology and Medical Care Unit at Northwick Park Hospital, Harrow, from 1971 to 1983.The History of Modern Biomedicine Research Group is funded by the Wellcome Trust, which is a registered charity (no. 210183).
