In this paper, the applicability of offshore wind turbines in the North Aegean Region is discussed. Wind data for the region has been obtained from two meteorological stations located at Bozcaada and Gokceada southwest of Canakkale. Based on an hourly time series covering twenty years, seasonal variations and availability of wind velocity have been assessed. To evaluate the wind statistics, Weibull distribution has been applied. It has been found out that the wind power in Bozcaada is much higher than Gokceada, indicating that its perimeter may be a suitable region for the deployment of offshore wind farms
