Panel 1A: Horses, Horses, Horses: Engineering the Protection of Wild and Domestic American Horses

Mr. Wagman will discuss litigation, administrative and legislative efforts used to rescue abused horses, prevent the decimation of wild horses from the American range, and preclude the slaughter of American horses for human consumption. He will identify specific case studies, the applicable laws utilized, and the hopes and outcomes of past, ongoing, and future efforts to provide better lives for horses subject to use and exploitation. Bruce Wagman is a partner in Schiff Hardin’s San Francisco office, with an almost exclusive focus on animal law matters, including litigation, legislative drafting and counseling, education, and private consultation. He has been active in animal law since 1992, and his practice focuses almost solely on animal law issues. He is a coeditor of the casebook Animal Law, and coauthor of A Worldview of Animal Law. He has been teaching Animal Law since 1996 and currently teaches on a rotating fashion at three Bay Area law schools
