Annual Red Clay Conference to address green sustainable commerce

The daylong event includes two keynote addresses. The first address Sustainable Commerce: Georgia\u27s Next Economy will be delivered by School of Law Associate Professor Peter A. Appel and President of Registry Consultants and UGA College of Pharmacy Adjunct Professor T. Rick Irvin. Stephen E. O\u27Day, who leads the Environmental Law Section and Sustainability Practice Group at Smith, Gambrell & Russell, in Atlanta, Ga., will deliver the second address. Other panels will explore a variety of topics including forestry, green building, green investment and corporate environmental initiatives. Among the panelists are founders of energy consultation companies, a representative from the Georgia Forestry Commission, the environmental manager for Coca-Cola and leading environmental attorneys. Going green is a movement that is sweeping the planet, second-year law student and conference co-organizer Kelly A. Christian said. This year\u27s conference features an impressive group of speakers who will discuss environmentally friendly commercial practices. The conference will take place at Dean Rusk Hall on North Campus and is free and open to the public. Six continuing legal education (CLE) credit hours are available for attorneys. Registration is required only for those guests who would like to eat breakfast and/or lunch.
