Harmony and simplicity in dry construction in Provence. Armonia ed essenzialità nelle costruzioni a secco in Provenza

The paper analyzes the architectural structures closely related to the agricultural and pastoral world, made with the technique of dry stone, in the Provence. The recurring element, which creates the unity of the whole of the variegated territory, is identified in the structural and compositional organization, that uses materials found on site and the technical expertise of ancient memory passed down through the centuries. Among natural environment, materials and man, has established a complicity, based on a deep mutual respect: the architecture is the most telling example of the integration of the built into the landscape. In the growing attention to policies for the protection and preservation of heritage, will mature awareness of the importance of the protection of cultural and natural resources, giving relief to the strategies of local economic development: we do not always realize how much simplicity, essentiality and harmony, shines through in these landscapes. It is crucial that they be a source of teaching and knowledge laboratories, for us who live on the same sites, but with different values, and we look to the experiences of the past to plan the future. Il contributo analizza le strutture architettoniche collegate al mondo agricolo-pastorale, realizzate con la tecnica della pietra a secco, nell'area della Provenza. L'elemento ricorrente, che crea l'unitarietà dell'insieme del variegato territorio, si può identificare nell'organizzazione strutturale e compositiva, che utilizza materiali reperiti in loco e l'esperienza tecnica di antica memoria tramandata nei secoli. Tra ambiente naturale, materiali e uomo, si è stabilita una complicità, basata su un vicendevole profondo rispetto: l'architettura è l'esempio più convincente dell'integrazione del costruito nel paesaggio. Nell'attuale crescente attenzione alle politiche di tutela e conservazione del patrimonio, si matura la consapevolezza dell'importanza della protezione delle risorse culturali e naturali, dandone rilievo per le strategie di sviluppo economico locale: non sempre ci si rende conto di quanta semplicità, essenzialità e armonia, traspare da questi paesaggi. E' determinante che essi siano fonte di insegnamento e laboratori di conoscenza per noi che abitiamo gli stessi luoghi, ma con valori diversi, e si guardi anche alle esperienze del passato per progettare il futur
