This exhibition in Chengdu, China, titled The Wonder and Loss of Familiar Places is the sequel to the exhibition of the same name held at Waikato Museum in 2012/2013. This exhibition is the product of a cultural exchange between artists Xu Ze (Chengdu, China) and Tim Croucher (Hamilton, Aotearoa). Though separated by language, distance, and life experiences, each artist has absorbed a part of the other’s culture through an experience of his painting. This exhibition is a physical manifestation of this absorption and dialogue
