Author Institution: Molecular Physics Division, National Institute of Standards and TechnologyThe present status will be described of a large ongoing effort to apply high-resolution experiment and theory to the $CH_{3}$-CHO molecule in order to obtain answers to prototypical questions in intramolecular energy transfer processes. The discussion will be divided into three parts, one part focussing on the ladder of methyl-top internal rotation energy levels, which are in some sense the main contributors to the bath states of the vibrational quasi-continuum, one part focussing on the small-amplitude vibrational fundamentals, and one part focussing on interactions with low-energy precursors of bath states in the quasi-continuum.
