Author Institution: National Bureau of StandardsThe B-type band, $2\nu_{1}$, of $NO_{2}$ at $2627.376 cm^{-1}$ has been studied with resolution of $0.030 cm^{-1}$. This weak band exhibits striking intensity perturbations similar to those observed in the $2\nu_{3}$ band previously reported. The P aide of $2\nu_{1}$ is very such weaker than the R side of the band; moreover, on the P side of the band, only $^{P}R_{K}$ and $^{P}Q_{K}$ line series are observed. The $^{P}P_{K}$ series are conspicuously missing. The stronger R side of the band consists only of very strong $^{R}R_{K}$ series and weaker $^{P}P_{K}$ series. $^{R}Q_{K}$ branch lines are observed for $K > 3$. Upper state rotational and spin splitting constants will be reported
