Letters 2, 329 (1968).Author Institution: Department of Chemistry, University of North Carolina Chapel HillAutoionizing Rydberg states, n = 5 - 12, converging to the ${^{2}}E_{1/2}$ (v = 0) and ${^{2}}E_{1/2}$ ($v_{2}$ = 1) states of methyl iodide ($CH_{3}$ I) have been identified. Photoelectron spectra resulting from these Rydberg states have been taken by exciting the autoionizing states with vacuum U.V. radiation dispersed by a 1 meter normal incidence spectrometer, and measuring the kinetic energy of the ejected electrons by a time-of-flight technique.
