FORCE CONSTANTS FOR PURE AND MIXED HALIDES OF BORON

Some new band assignments and previously unobserved frequencies will be presented. Self-consistent values of valence force constants have been calculated from the spectral data for the pure halides, and transferred to the mixed halides to give good agreement with the observed vibrational frequencies. Three different sets of valence force constants for the pure halides which have appeared in the literature will be compared, as well as three different methods of transferring force constants for pure halides to the mixed halides
