Research 66, No. 10, 3596 (1961).Author Institution: Philco-Ford, Aeronutronic Division, Newport BeachAbsorption by the oxygen A band has been investigated with spectral resolution less than $1 cm^{-1}$. Sample pressures have been varied up to approximately 14 atm and path lengths have exceeded one kilometer. The strengths and widths of many of the lines have been measured, and the shapes of the extreme wings of the lines has been investigated. The application of the results to a $method^{1}$ of determining heights of cloud tops is discussed
