THE ELECTRON PARAMAGNETIC RESONANCE SPECTRA OF TWO PENTACYANONITROSYL COMPLEXES

Author Institution: Department of Chemistry, University of Notre DameSingle crystals of $K_{2}Mn(CN)_{3}NO$ and $K_{2}Fe(CN)_{5}NO-H_{2}O$ containing small amounts of $K_{3}Cr(CN)_{5}NO$ and $K_{2}Mn(CN)_{5}NO$, respectively, have been studied by paramagnetic resonance. The spectroscopic splitting factors have been obtained, and also the hyperfine coupling tensors to the central metal ion, to the nitrosyl nitrogen and to $C^{13}$ in the cyanide groups. The values of these parameters will be discussed in terms of the bonding in these compounds
