SOME INFRARED SPECTRA OF MATRIX ISOLATED LITHIUM FLUORIDE$^{\ast}$

Chem. 67, 882 (1963).Author Institution: Mellon InstituteInfrared spectra of LiF monomer and dimer have been previously studied in the gas $phase^{1, 2}$ and in Ar, Kr, Xe and $N_{2}$ $matrices^{3, 4}$. One of the most interesting results of these studies is the unusually large shift of the monomer and dimer vibration frequencies in passing from the gas phase to the matrix. Additional matrix shifts will be reported in the present work. Infrared spectra of LiF suspended in solid $Ne, O_{2}, CO$ and $CH_{4}$ have been recorded at about $5^{\circ}K$. In addition, spectra of LiF suspended in mixed matrices, e.g. $95\% Ar+5\% N_{2}$, will be discussed
