Author Institution: Connecticut Instrument Corp, Wilton, Connecticut.The principle and application of attenuated total reflectance are well established. An optical system has been devised and constructed which permits obtaining ATR spectra from samples having working areas as small as $0.5 \times 3 mm$. The system permits adjustment of the incidence angle between 30 and $50^{\circ}$. The sample is pressed against a suitable half-cylinder of infrared transmitting material. Spectra will be shown which have been taken on several familiar infrared spectrophotometers
