Author Institution: Department of Chemistry, University of CincinnatiThe reaction products arising from the pyrolysis of mixtures of $B_{2}H_{6} $ with $NH_{3}$ and the methylamines have been isolated and characterized in argon matrices at 14 K. For all three methylamines, the 1:1 adduct ${H_{3}B\cdot {NH}_{x}(CH_{3})}_{y} (x+y=3)$ was isolated. The 1:1 adduct of $B_{2}H_{6} $ and $NH_{3}$ is probably formed but undergoes rapid $H_{2}$ elimination to give aminoborane, $H_{2}B=NH_{2}$. All 11 infrared active fundamentals of aminoborane were identified including the two lowest fundamentals not previously reported.
