VIBRATIONAL SPECTRA AND FORCE-FIELD ANALYSIS OF DEUTERATED ETHYL $CHLORIDES^{*}$

Acta 25A, 1363 (1969).Author Institution:The vibrational spectra of d $d_{0}-,d_{1}-$ and $d_{3}$-ethyl chlorides have been recorded with a Nicole$\pm$ 7199 Fourier transform Infrared Spectrometer at a resolution of $0.05 cm^{-1}$. This represents an improvement in accuracy and resolution by a factor of $\approx$20 over previous $work.^{1}$ Also, spectra of the singly deuterated species are presented here for the first time. The normal-mode frequencies are used to derive an improved force field for the molecule. Rotational structure has been recorded and analyzed for several bands, including unusually sharp Q-branch features for the $\nu_{4} (1134.9 \mbox{cm}^{-1})$ and $\nu_{14}(1052.7 \mbox{cm}^{-1})$ bands of $CD_{3}CH_{2}Cl$
