$^{1}$ D. T. Grow and R. M. Pitzer, J. Chem. Phys. 67, 4019 (1977).Author Institution:An argon laser $(\lambda = 4880$ and 5145 {\AA}) has been used to excite fluorescence from $Na_{2}O$. The spectra extend from 4500 to 8500 {\AA}. In a typical spectrum one observes what appear to be two band systems, the stronger of which is localized around the laser line. A weaker system extends from 6500 to 8500 {\AA}. Recently Grow and $pitzer^{1}$ have performed calculations to determine the structure and spectra associated with $Li_{2}O$. There is an outstanding correlation between the current work and this study.
