THE $2\nu_{1} + \nu_{4}$ BAND OF CARBON TETRAFLUORIDE

Phys. 58, 1771-1772 (1973)Author Institution:The $2\nu_{1}+\nu_{4}$ infrared spectrum of $^{12}CF_{4}$ near $2445 cm^{-1}$ was first observed with a $0.04 cm^{-1}$ resolution by A. MAKI et al |1| who gave three molecular constants. New measurement have been now obtained with a $0.005 cm^{-1}$ resolution Fourier spectrometer. The spectral region used for our analysis lies between P (70) at $2406.5 cm^{-1}$ and R (45) at $2468.1 cm^{-1}$. In this investigation we have adopted a simple model where only diagonal terms are taken into account in Moret-Bailly’s formalism |2|, a choice which is confirmed by our results. About 500 line cluster have been assigned. From these, a least squares fit with an overall standard deviation of $0.001 cm^{-1}$ has led to the following constants: $m = 2445.59640 \pm 0.00015$ $n = 0.5151730 \pm 0.0000037$ $p = (-5.71558 \pm 0.00088)\times 10^{-4}$ $q= (-5.941_{5} \pm 0.018)\times 10^{-7}$ $g = (-2.4420 \pm 0.0025)\times 10^{-5}$ $h = (1.2093 \pm 0.0048)\times 10^{-7}$ $z^{\prime} = (-8.81 \pm 0.22)\times 10^{-11}$ All these values are in $cm^{-1}$ and errors quoted are one standard deviation
