Author Institution:The infrared spectrum of methyl fluoride has been measured from 1027 to $1062 cm^{-1}$ with a PbSnTe diode laser. This allowed piecewise measurement of the $Q_{P}$ branch and the $Q_{R}$ branch from J = 1 to J = 10 and the measurement of the $Q_{Q}$ branch from J=1 to J=18, with a resolution of $0.0016 cm^{-1}$. A dc Stark effect was observed upon application of a static electric field. These measurements have been used to determine the rotational-vibrational parameters of the molecule
