Author Institution: Los Alamos Scientific LaboratoryUltraviolet and infrared spectra are presented for $CO_{2}, CH_{2}O, CD_{2}O, CC\ell_{2}F_{2}, CH_{3}OH$ and $OsO_{4}$, dissolved in liquified Xe, Kr, and Ar. The infrared absorption features are narrower than the corresponding gas phase vibrational bands but broader than rotational lines. The frequencies of the absorption features are observed to shift with solvent, temperature and Isotopic composition. High densities ($10^{17}$ to $10^{19}$ molecules/$cm^{3}$) are obtainable. Some unstable compounds, such as $CH_{2}O$ monomer at $10^{18}$ molecules/$cm^{3}$, form stable cryogenic solutions.
