Once attached or retrofitted to the Ramanor’s wavenumber drive, the rapid scan accessory need not be removed since the normal modes of operation, of the instrument are maintained; when not activated the cam returns to the rest position, which brings the wavenumber drive to its normal calibration point. Time resolution is in the domain of seconds with total range of operation (which is linear in wavenumber) between 50 and $300\, cm^{-1}$.
