Author Institution: Department of Chemistry, Columbia UniversityThe BaO $A^{\prime}{^{1}\Pi}$ - $X^{1}\Sigma^{+}$ band system has been investigated using laser-induced fluorescence- The BaO is formed in the gas phase reaction Ba + $CO_{2}$ under single-collision conditions, and the $A^{\prime}{^{1}\Pi}$ and $A^{1}\Sigma^{+}$ states are simultaneously excited by a pulsed tunable dye lager with a 0.2 {\AA} bandwidth. The weak, long-Lifetime A^{\prime}-X fluorescence is separated from the strong, short-lifetime A-X fluorescence by delaying the observation of the A^{\prime}-X emission until the A-X emission dies away. The experiments have yielded the lifetime, vibrational constants, and rotational constants for the $A^{\prime}{^{1}\Pi}$ state
