Author Institution: Ames Laboratory-ERDA and Department of Chemistry, Iowa State University; Department of Chemistry, Washington UniversityIt has been observed that the electric field (Stark) spectrum of an impurity in a molecular crystal can demonstrate a dependence upon the individual vibronic levels in the spectrum. These variations in splittings among different vibronic levels are directly related to a variation of the permanent dipole moment of the molecule from that presumed within the crude adiabatic approximation
